We are looking for a Senior Quantitative Specialist for the Modeling section in the divisional unit Munich Re Markets. This role specializes in high-performance valuation systems by developing the data frameworks and processing environments required for complex financial modeling and reporting.
Munich Re Markets focuses on reinsurance of savings and retirement products, which typically transfers hybrid actuarial and capital market risks to the reinsurer. The activities of Munich Re Markets include origination, structuring, valuation, risk management and administration of reinsurance contracts in a truly international and diverse environment.
The Modeling team is responsible for cash flow models and best estimate assumptions used for Solvency II, local GAAP and IFRS valuation. You will work in an interdisciplinary team that produces and hedges non-traditional reinsurance solutions and creates investment solutions for clients.
Your Job
- Enhance and scale our grid-based Monte Carlo simulation framework and XML data interfaces within a high-performance, multithreaded environment.
- Engineer our valuation run management system, design database models for run configurations and build a plug-in framework while directly supporting the Modeling and Reporting teams with run setups.
- Develop Java ETL/import web services, build flexible frameworks for R and Java data processing, and hand over code to our external IT vendor for productive deployment.
- Collaborate with the Business Product Owner, Test & Release Management, external service provider and central Global Template division to define architectural design and to enable test and release management processes.
Your Profile
- Excellent university degree in (insurance/financial) mathematics, physics, or computer science
- Quantitative developer skills on expert level: Expertise with multithreaded algorithms and grid computing, performance optimizations of financial models and Monte Carlo simulations
- Extensive experience in Full Stack Java/J2EE development, with a strong focus on building scalable RESTful APIs, professional GUI development, and utilizing the Spring Framework
- Proven track record in developing real-time trading systems and hedging platforms and their interfaces (knowledge of Bloomberg API or Calypso API is a major plus)
- Proficiency with relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle), including schema modeling, SQL / T-SQL, and Java Hibernate (ORM).
- Skills in software architecture modeling and UML, with experience in the integration of heterogeneous software components within complex enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in Release Management (Maven, Gradle), source control (Git, Subversion), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), automated testing (JUnit), and code quality tools.
- Hands-on mindset and commitment to delivering excellence
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
- Fluent in business English and German
