Senior Project Manager - Asset Management (m/f/d)*

The Group IT Business Solutions, Asset Management, delivers business value through the management of IT products including execution of change projects, and delivery of agile IT product management, application development and IT operational support. Our Core Stakeholders are MEAG and GIM in Munich, New York and Hong Kong.
The Senior Project Manager reports to the Head of Section (Asset Management) while being strongly embedded into the section's teams and topics.
This position has the responsibility for the execution of a diverse range of highly complex and strategic projects related to MEAG asset management business and others, as demand dictates.
You will also be responsible for delivering the agreed scope on time and budget, working closely with the whole tower, Enterprise Architecture, Service Delivery, Application Teams and external managed service providers and vendors globally, to achieve successful project outcomes.
In addition, you will team up with our tower portfolio managers, project managers and solution architects to ensure identification of overarching risks, dependencies and solutions.
Success in this role will require achieving business and technology results in a fast paced, global and regulated financial services environment.
Your Job
- When launching new initiatives, ensure that executive sponsorship, governance, scope and objectives are established to identify the resources, create the schedule, outline the approach and define the sequencing of work required to execute the project effectively
- Drive delivery of projects with predictable consistency, efficiency and success, ensure overall compliance within IT and smooth transition of the resulting solution into production with a continuous focus on achieving business results
- Identify issues/risks, analyze options and manage impacts to mitigate project delays and take appropriate action to keep projects on track, leverage support from key stakeholders and/or management as required
- Manage communication and relationships with project stakeholders at various levels of the organization, including executives, to ensure alignment and be proactive to avoid issues
- Manage, monitor and report project progress and budget updates, ensure consistent and transparent communication is provided to management and executive leadership
- Manage the project within budget constraints and with profound cost consciousness
- Ensure all project costs ,are actively tracked and managed, including SOWs/purchase orders, contracts, internal resource assignments, and that accurate financials and resource forecasts and accruals are maintained in SAP and project management tools.
- Coordinate the completion of all documentation, change requests, approvals, lifecycle steps and compliance gate requests in a timely manner to ensure the project continues to align with the agreed schedule
- Manage vendor relationships and the effective utilization of resources on each project, minimize use of external onshore and offshore resources, and ensure the timely offboarding of those resources when tasks are completed
- Mentoring and growth are important - coach, guide and assist junior project managers or team members to help advance the capabilities of the team/area. Be an active member of the project manager community
Your Profile
- University degree in IT or business information management or equivalent qualification
- Extensive experience in delivery of IT solutions for investment or asset management businesses, including but not limited to business activities. You understand the client’s business and what needs to be done on IT side to bring the business forward
- Several years of experience in delivering major programs/projects and supervising/managing resources in a fast paced, global and regulated business environment
- Excellent personal organizational skills and ability to coordinate the efforts of others globally in the successful delivery of projects
- Proven ability to rigorously manage and track project costs and budgets to agreed baselines
- Recognized for being able to handle ambiguity, effectively multi-task, deal with complexity and manage multiple projects concurrently
- Necessary gravitas to deal with senior leaders and executives, build and nurture business relationships
- Good track record of being proactive, a self-starter and having a collaborative working style
- Ability to work globally across entities and cultures and to ‘get things done’ despite silos or regional differences in process or approach
- Proven knowledge of key project management tools including Clarity, SAP Financials, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and MS Office
- Experience in successfully managing the diverging interests of various stakeholders in a global Finance/Banking/Capital Markets or regulated industry
- Fluent command of Business English and German
