Central Reserving (CR) uses quantitative and qualitative methods to perform and oversee the loss reserve analyses for Munich Re’s group-wide non-life business. This includes continuous monitoring of the reserve position as well as the further development of actuarial methods, underlying systems and tools. Additional responsibilities include the financial reporting on non-life technical provisions.
Within the IFRS17 Plan & Solvency II team in Central Reserving, we ensure accurate processing of IFRS17 Plan and Solvency II data, deliver actuarial insights based on advanced quantitative and technical analysis and translate these insights into reporting and business contexts – working in close collaboration with the global reserving community and ensuring efficient processes.

YOUR JOB
Ensuring timely and high-quality financial planning under IFRS17 for Munich Re’s entire non-life segment by
- Coordinating and monitoring data delivery from multiple stakeholders fostering collaboration and strong communication within the interdisciplinary team
- Contributing to the development of systems and tools for actuarial analysis
- Overseeing efficient execution of IFRS 17 plan processing and performing quality assurance
- Developing actuarial models to generate insights on IFRS17 and Solvency II valuation and optimizing reconciliation efficiency
- Conducting actuarial analyses of IFRS17 key figures and their sensitivities, including manifold detailed actuarial calculations and reconciliations to benchmark values in balance sheet and profit & loss statements along with internal and external reporting in collaboration with other departments
- Preparing clear communication and addressing information needs on financial year plan topics for various stakeholders such as board committees, controlling teams, business units and auditors
YOUR PROFILE
- University degree with quantitative focus (e.g. mathematics, actuarial science, information technology or economics)
- Experience in an actuarial role (e.g. in Reserving, Pricing, Risk Management, Controlling, Underwriting, Actuarial Audit). IFRS17 knowledge is a strong asset.
- Proven expertise in financial mathematics and actuarial science, with a demonstrated ability to apply theoretical concepts to business-driven actuarial analysis
- Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, as well as the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Strong knowledge of R, SQL and Power BI
- Intrinsically motivated team player focusing on pragmatic development of innovative concepts and solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
- Willingness to occasional travel as required by the role
