The Group Investment Management (GIM) division is responsible for managing the proprietary Munich Re and ERGO investment portfolio. Within GIM, the Sustainability in Investments team acts as a competence center in the area of sustainability under the Group CIO, developing the group-wide sustainability strategy for investments, steering and monitoring process integration, target achievement and stewardship processes, as well as contributing to sustainability-related publications and legal entity advisory.

Measuring ESG performance can be complex—and this is where you come in. As a Data Analytics Intern, you will support our Sustainability in Investments team by developing data driven approaches to quantify ESG related investment performance. You will work with real investment data, build analytical tools, and help shape how we evaluate sustainability outcomes across our portfolio.

Your Job

  • Analyze benchmark structures, return profiles, and risk metrics
  • Clean, prepare, and validate datasets for investment and sustainability analysis
  • Program scripts and analytical workflows (e.g., in Python, R, SQL) to automate and scale insights
  • Develop clear, intuitive visualizations for internal stakeholders
  • Support ad hoc data requests and help improve internal data processes

Your Profile

  • Ongoing studies in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical mindset and passion for working with complex datasets
  • Programming skills in SQL, R, or Python and solid Excel capabilities
  • Familiarity with common data analysis tools and libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, matplotlib)
  • Ability to interpret quantitative results and communicate them clearly
  • Structured, independent, and reliable working style
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and interest in sustainability and investment analytics

Students from countries outside the EU require a German residence-/work permit. The first master's degree may not have been completed before/during the entire internship.'
