Reporting to the Global Head of Sourcing, the Head of Section is responsible for the legal management of team members in the CP team in Munich as well as management line responsibility for assigned category managers globally, developing and managing global strategic sourcing within their assigned sourcing category. 

The Global Category Manager has the responsibility to develop and manage global strategic sourcing within their assigned sourcing category.

The role includes:

Legal Management of all local CP resources, including Continuous Conversations and Learning & Development.

Direction of their assigned global category and their global sourcing team, creating and implementing a category management strategy together with the internal business partners that drive cost reductions and ensuring alignment with Third Party Management Function on risk mitigation and compliance.

  • Management line responsibility globally for team members in the Global Sourcing Real Estate, Office Support & Services team in close collaboration with the local legal line manager.
  • Ensure strategic procurement processes, demand management, formal tenders, evaluation of offers, contract negotiation and proposal of contract award and implementation are properly handled by the team
  • Give strategic direction and offer oversight for the assigned Sourcing Category team 
  • Lead qualified procurement specialists and ensure a productive collaboration globally with-in Global Procurement, with our stakeholders and on all levels of the organization
  • Ensure global interaction within both Munich Re, ERGO and MEAG

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent qualification or experience
  • 10+ years relevant procurement experience or proven track record in related roles
  • Deep knowledge of Real Estate & Office Services 
  • Independent, responsible and solution-oriented way of working
  • Strategic mindset and business acumen with strong negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Proven experience working within Global organizations in a matrix environment
  • Quick comprehension, analytical thinking and organizational skills
  • Target-oriented, highly motivated and willingness to perform
  • Turns curiosity & passion for the content into results
  • Proven leadership skills and experience, or equivalent track record of leading in a project context
  • High team and integration skills in a group-wide environment
  • Excellent communication skills, especially convincing and authoritative demeanor
  • Assertiveness in a group-wide environment and a high degree of conflict resolution
  • Dealing with Microsoft Office products on a professional level
