Facultative Underwriter Construction (CAR/EAR/CECR/IDI) (m/f/d)* - - Limited to 12 month

GC/NA4.1.8 Engineering writes worldwide facultative Engineering business with the core markets in the USA, Canada, Bermuda and UK. Beside infrastructural projects, the facultative reinsurance team takes care of all fields of construction as well as the operation of civil engineered structures and power plants.
To complement our team we are seeking a dedicated engineering underwriter who has a strong interest in underwriting construction, erection, CECR,  IDI business. The main focus area will be modeling of portfolios and underwriting MBRs. You will help our team realize the worldwide business potential and enhance our market position. 

YOUR JOB

• Underwriting facility business and MBRs including portfolio modeling and analysis
• Underwriting new and renewal global single risk engineering and construction business in accordance with agreed strategy and within designated underwriting authority
• Performing risk assessment including pricing, wording analysis, accumulation management, and acceptance of large and complex engineering risks
• Conducting negotiations with policyholders and brokers
• Representing Munich Re as a key market and thought leader within the engineering insurance industry
• Coordinating and collaborating with the other F&C units worldwide developing, maintaining, and expanding client and broker relationships
• Contributing to the development of the portfolio by actively acquiring profitable new business
• Contributing to an inspiring team environment that enables Munich Re’s engineering community to achieve its mid- and long-term goals
• Contribute to claims handling for major claims

YOUR PROFILE

• Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Mathematics, Physics or Science
• University graduates or long-standing experience in single-risk property underwriting or claims
• Familiarity with insurance coverages
• Knowledge of risk assessment as well as proficiency in the analysis of wordings
• Analytics and modelling skills
• Knowledge and experience in the application of relevant underwriting tools and reporting tools, including alternative tools (Data Lake) to improve profitability or efficiency
• Ability to assess risks autonomously with the aid of other MR resources
• High level of motivation and willingness to learn
• Team player, open mindset and preparedness to work in a very dynamic environment
• Excellent command of  English, knowledge of additional languages is of  advantage
