Enterprise Architect for Asset Management (m/f/d)*

This role will be part of the Enterprise Architecture Tower for Group Technology, which defines and drives the overarching Enterprise Architecture (EA) strategy to support business agility and growth across Munich Re Group. The Tower develops multiyear roadmaps covering platforms, products, digital experience, and organizational design—balancing strategic alignment and transformation goals. It ensures consistent policy, monitors architecture delivery, and optimizes the application portfolio to reduce costs and accelerate innovation. Additionally, the Tower provides SDLC tools and processes that enhance global developer productivity in a secure, compliant, and standardized environment.
We are currently seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect (EA) to join the Group Technology Enterprise Architecture Tower, with a primary focus on the Asset and Investment Management Functions. This role is about aligning business strategy and expected outcomes with initiatives, technology and investments.
The EA is accountable for proactively leading technology transformation activities and driving targeted business outcomes across all core business capabilities. The EA drives and supports initiatives and harmonization efforts transforming legacy processes/systems into central and group wide platforms and supports Technical Architects to design / deliver pattern and projects.
Key goal of the role is to provide leadership, facilitation, analysis and design tasks required for the transformation of asset management capabilities and corresponding application portfolio and tech stack. Together with the Technical Architecture team and IT Business Solutions the EA creates deliverables that help develop target-state guidance (transformation roadmaps and standards, guidelines, patterns) across the enterprise, in order to enable business strategy and successfully deliver projects.
Your job
- Developing a Multiyear Roadmap. The Roadmaps capture business initiatives and strategic themes that connect the portfolio and the enterprise business strategy. They also capture the enablers that reflect the architectural, technology, and business process initiatives that are necessary to enable those projects.
- Defining a project portfolio as a prerequisite for successful portfolio management together with IT Business Solutions and Business stakeholders. The enterprise architect drives strategic enterprise portfolio planning for Investment and Asset Management, calls out the interdependencies between the different elements of the portfolio and their context and manages all relevant stakeholders
- Assess / cluster / monitor the asset management function portfolio, manage the roadmap for transformation, support the setup of migration & transformation projects, provide relevant data / TCO to calculate ROI – Business Cases and provide project charters, ensure that our TCO’s are appropriate for the services we consume.
- Identifying and driving all initiatives, participate in RfPs and/or PoCs, maintain collaboration channels with internal customers in different towers as well as working closely together with the Technical Architects and all other EA team members
- Leading the analysis and transformation of the current technology and application portfolio to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement
- Working with EA peers (e.g., enterprise, business, solutions architects) to analyze enterprise business context (business strategy and trends), as well as change requirements in other enterprise architecture viewpoints to derive the technology architecture future state.
- Assisting with designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance
- Identifying the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures) and financial impact of the application portfolio and enterprise technology stack
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or relevant field from an accredited college or university; Master’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred
- Multiyear experience in Investment Management / Asset Management (Portfolio Management & Trading, Performance & Risk Management, ESG, Fund Administration, Investment Accounting, Investment Operations, Multi Asset Investing, Market Data) or comparable
- Excellent architecture skillset in different front and back-office asset management platforms (Simcorp Dimensions, ALGO, SAP FAM, eFront, or comparable) and/or excellent technical data-related skillset (SQL, Databricks Lakehouse, R, Python, SAP BW, SAP DSP, etc.)
- Several years of working experience in implementation projects of platforms mentioned above
- Demonstrated experience partnering with business colleagues and working in an agile environment responsive to fast paced, iterative decision-making and solution delivery expectations
- Experience getting results in a global, regulated industry and designing solutions where compliance and risk controls are embedded to ensure that business requirements and risk objectives are achieved.
- Pronounced analytical and conceptual capabilities coupled with the ability to present complex situations in a clear and precise way
- Sound knowledge of software development and methodology
- Ability to estimate the business, risk and financial impacts of architecture alternatives
- Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of existing, new and emerging technologies that enable and drive new business designs and models
- Strong written and verbal communication in English
