Description: 

Munich Re is writing business mainly with global banks by insuring credit risks originated by the banks – either on single risk basis (Global Credit Solutions – GCS) or on basis of structured portfolio transactions (Structured Portfolio Solutions – SPS). Your role as Credit Analyst (Risk Underwriter) is support the teams with the risk analysis of complex transaction in the field of Commercial Real Estate as well as to take or prepare independent credit decisions in conjunction with the Client Relationship & Risk Manager (CRRM).

Your Job

  • Independently analyse complex financing structures of Commercial Real Estate transactions
  • Prepare internal credit applications, making informed recommendations and providing internal stakeholders and clients with reasoned explanations for decisions 
  • Determine the maximum risk appetite for large single transactions involving multiple cedents
  • Monitoring and steering of existing (sub-)portfolios; identification of significant risks at an early stage and initiate appropriate risk measures
  • Cooperate closely with a deal team as well as involvement in direct client contacts
  • Take initiative with regard to the examination and development of strategic growth initiatives and new business opportunities
  • Support efforts to enhance existing tools, credit risk management systems and processes 

Your Profile

  • Master degree, preferably in business or economics or with a scientific focus; additional qualifications such as CFA or equivalent are a strong advantage
  • At least 7 years’ professional experience in the analysis commercial real estate across various sub-sectors and regions; expertise in project and infrastructure finance as strong advantage
  • Relevant product knowledge of cash-flow based financing structures and thorough understanding financial models
  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk management in banks (incl. rating methodologies) and a keen interest in economic, political and regulatory topics (especially ESG)
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with a pronounced risk awareness and sense of responsibility, independent and result-oriented working style, ability to justify decisions in a clear and comprehensible manner 
  • Sound conduct of MS-Office (especially Excel and Power BI) and interest for AI supported analysis
  • Strong team player and confident demeanour, able to contribute in a dynamic and collaborative environment
  • Very good written and verbal command of English; additional business-relevant language skills are an advantage
