Description: 

Munich Re's Central Procurement (CP) team takes global responsibility for all procurement-related topics, ranging from strategic sourcing and supplier (risk) management to procure-to-pay and all overarching governance and procurement strategy topics. This includes CP's budget responsibility and accountability. 
We are looking for a numerically strong, business-oriented allrounder who combines solid controlling skills with strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities. As a Procurement Financial Performance Consultant, you partner with the CPO and SLT (Senior Leadership Team), as well as the Senior Consultant Governance & Controlling, to drive transparency and steer budgets, workforces, and investments. You will use financial steering, performance management, and executive communication to challenge decisions, transform data into actionable insights and drive the sustainable, cost-efficient success of CP, while also contributing to broader transformation initiatives to ensure the future success of the department.

Your Job

  • Manage and further develop the global procurement performance management framework, including KPI definition, tracking, and review cycles 
  • Consolidate and analyse key Procurement KPIs (e.g. Procurement Success, Addressed Spend, efficiency metrics) to identify improvement opportunities 
  • Plan and steer the global procurement budget in close collaboration with reinsurance controlling, CPO, and SLT 
  • Monitor actuals vs. budget vs. forecast and ensure early visibility on deviations, risks, and optimisation levers
  • Oversee external spend and IT investment budgets in line with the procurement strategy and technology roadmap 
  • Create transparent, decision-ready reporting on financials, performance, and workforce development
  • Act as a sparring partner on cost decisions, business cases, and hiring topics (e.g., AI vs. FTE) 
  • Enable data-driven prioritisation and resource allocation across procurement initiatives 
  • Prepare impactful presentations for senior stakeholders (e.g. Board of Management, SLT)
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and procurement transformation initiatives


Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in controlling and project management, ideally with a background in procurement.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset 
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment
  • Strong numerical affinity combined with a pragmatic, hands-on approach
  • Proven ability to translate data into executive-ready insights and presentations
  • Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge and influence senior leadership
  • High level of discretion in handling sensitive information
  • Familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI) is an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English in an international environment
