The Risk Intelligence and Knowledge Systems (RIKS) unit is part of Life & Health division, which serves as a regional analytics centre for Europe, UK and Latin Americas. The department is responsible for AI strategy development and execution, biometrics insights and knowledge modelling for more than 40 markets, for 500+ cedents, and 1,500+ active reinsurance contracts. We strategically invest in scalable, easy-to-use data and knowledge technologies to create and operationalize high quality products and services using structured and unstructured data, serving both internal and external clients. We believe that better data and advanced analytics can strengthen our reinsurance core and service business and will be the foundation for the business models of tomorrow.

You will drive the development, deployment, and industrialization of AI/ML solutions including generative AI, agentic systems, and predictive models, with a focus on production-ready implementations that deliver tangible business value to our Life & Health division.

Your Job
- Lead the design, development, and operationalization of AI/ML solutions including generative AI applications, multi-agent systems, and predictive models for underwriting, pricing, claims, and biometrics use cases.
- Build end-to-end MLOps pipelines covering model training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and retraining; establish best practices for model governance, versioning, and performance tracking in production environments.
- Develop and deploy agentic AI systems and LLM-based applications that augment decision-making across underwriting, medical assessment, and analytics workflows; implement prompt engineering, RAG architectures, and tool-use patterns.
- Partner with data engineers and architects to design feature stores, data pipelines, and infrastructure supporting real-time and batch AI/ML workloads at scale.
- Translate business requirements from pricing, underwriting, medical, and claims teams into production-grade AI solutions; ensure models are interpretable, auditable, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Establish monitoring frameworks for model drift, data quality, and system performance; implement automated alerting and remediation strategies for production AI systems.
- Drive automation and reusability in AI/ML workflows, creating standardized frameworks, templates, and tooling that accelerate solution delivery across teams.
- Collaborate with knowledge engineering and ontology teams to enhance AI systems with structured knowledge representations and domain-specific reasoning capabilities.
- Stay current with emerging AI/ML technologies and evaluate their applicability to reinsurance challenges; lead proof-of-concepts and pilot implementations for promising innovations.
- Contribute to AI strategy development and roadmap planning, identifying opportunities to leverage AI/ML for competitive advantage and operational efficiency.
Your Profile
- Strong understanding of (re)insurance business, with demonstrated experience delivering AI/ML projects in insurance, financial services, or comparable regulated industries
- Advanced degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, engineering, or similar
- Several years of hands-on experience building and operationalizing AI/ML systems in production environments, ideally in Life & Health insurance or reinsurance
- Deep expertise in generative AI, LLMs, and agentic systems (prompt engineering, RAG, fine-tuning, tool use, multi-agent orchestration)
- Proven track record in MLOps, including model deployment, monitoring, CI/CD for ML, and production system maintenance
- Proficient in Python with extensive experience in ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Transformers, LangChain/LlamaIndex)
- Strong knowledge of Databricks (MLflow, AutoML, Feature Store), Azure ML, or comparable enterprise ML platforms
- Experience with cloud AI services (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or similar) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data engineering, SQL, and distributed computing (Spark)
- Skilled in model interpretability, fairness, and regulatory compliance considerations for AI systems
- Highly motivated, responsible, and able to work independently while collaborating across technical and business teams
- Familiar with data privacy, AI ethics, and regulatory frameworks in (re)insurance
- Creative problem-solver with entrepreneurial mindset and passion for turning AI research into business impact
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
