Technical Architect

We are currently looking for a Technical Architect to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Section.

This role is the lead architect for Global Integration Hub, which is part of the Data Integration space.

As a Technical Architect, you will design, evolve, and maintain technical architectures that support a portfolio of business integrations. You will ensure high-quality system designs that deliver strong performance while balancing flexibility, maintainability, cost efficiency, and future scalability. In addition, you will provide architectural leadership across the Data Integration landscape, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment across teams and solutions.

Responsibilities: 

• Own the technical architecture for the Global Integration Hub, supporting platform operations and development across a suite of custom business integrations.
• Act as a technical lead in implementation projects, guiding and supporting delivery teams.
• Act as the lead architect within the Data Integration space, guiding and supporting Solution Architects by:
  • Helping resolve complex technical and architectural challenges
  • Providing architectural direction and decision support
  • Ensuring consistent use of pre-aligned patterns, standards, and best practices
• Design flexible, modular, reusable, and adaptable architectures in close collaboration with business stakeholders and IT teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Ensure the GIH platform and associated ways of working comply with Munich Re and relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Support and collaborate with Solution Architects across the Data Integration landscape.
• Produce and maintain architecture and compliance documentation, and drive the platform toward a robust, high-quality application state.
• Lead the expansion of the platform into Canada and US regions, reshaping the architecture to support multiple customer types and regional delivery models.
• Monitor market and technology trends to identify opportunities and recommend alternative technical solutions that deliver business value.
• Work closely with team members, stakeholders, and strategic partners to define requirements and deliver solutions aligned with agreed scope, methodology, and technology standards.
• Mentor and nurture emerging technical leaders within the Data Integration space, helping them grow into strong Tech Leads and future Lead Architects

Knowledge and Skills

• Proven experience with Kubernetes, Argo CD, and Argo Workflows.
• Experience producing documentation for compliance and adapting technologies to Munich Re and industry standards.
• Strong knowledge of web-based, service-oriented, and cloud architectures, with the ability to balance technical options against business and financial constraints.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and best practices, including DevOps principles, CI/CD, and modern delivery patterns.
• Experience automating development and delivery processes to reduce manual effort and improve service quality.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure technologies and infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality products and services in complex environments.
