Senior Project Manager
We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Subsection – IT and Security.
As a Senior Project Manager you will be accountable for executing a diverse range of projects that support one or more lines of business. Including global initiatives. You’ll have the responsibility to deliver results on time and budget, working with distributed teams across a range of IT disciplines including Architecture, Service Delivery, Application Teams and external service providers and vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of large-scale, complex IT and Cybersecurity projects, including global and regulatory initiatives.
- Drive the development of project charters that clearly define scope, objectives, timeline, success metrics, requirements (business, non-functional, functional, and operational), and risk mitigations strategies for global cybersecurity initiatives.
- Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project lifecycle, setting quality and performance standards and assessing risks
- Ensure adherence and adoption of Munich Re’s project management methodology – ‘MR Essentials’. Actively contribute feedback to established methodologies, within the spirit of continuous improvement
- Defining project objectives, project scope, roles & responsibilities
- Defining resource requirements and managing resource availability & allocation – both internal and third party
- Structure and manage a budget based on requirements and tracking costs to deliver project on budget
- Preparing a detailed project plan to schedule key project milestones, workstreams & activities. Managing delivery of the project according to this plan
- Navigate and adapt to high levels of uncertainty, changing requirements, and dynamic business environments while maintaining a structured project delivery approach.
- Translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans and executive-level updates.
- Tracking project and providing regular reports on project status to project team and key stakeholders, including executives
- Managing and adjusting for any changes in project scope, schedule and / or budget, in accordance with approved authorities and change processes
- Identifying and mitigating potential risks, interdependencies, and compliance with organizational and regulatory security standards
- Support continuous improvement by identifying technical or process gaps and recommending sustainable solutions.
Knowledge and Skills
- 10+ years of experience in complex IT project leadership using recognised / best practice delivery methodologies. Experience of Program management an advantage.
- 6+ years of experience in delivering Cyber / IT Security projects in Financial Services or a regulated industry. Experience in delivering to achieve IT regulatory / compliance frameworks (e.g. VAIT, DORA) an advantage.
- Proven success leading global, cross-functional cybersecurity projects in highly customized and evolving IT environments.
- Successful coordination of project deliverables based on an understanding of the customer needs.
- Ability to construct project budgets and manage project costs to agreed baselines.
- Ability to lead under uncertainty, manage shifting priorities, and thrive in ambiguous settings
- Demonstrated personal organizational skills and ability to coordinate the efforts of others involved in the delivery of projects, including negotiating deadlines and commitments.
- Demonstrated ability to work globally and lead multi-functional teams across businesses and international cultures to deliver results.
- Experience of leading projects involving the structure and management of 3rd party vendor or service provider contracts.
- Preferably, you are already ITIL, Scrum or PMI certified or have the readiness to pursue one with our support.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills.
- Recognized as proactive and with high problem-solving competence.
- German language skills an advantage.
