Pricing Developer
We are looking for a Pricing Developer to join our London Office offering hybrid working for a 12month fixed term contract.
You will be responsible for developing models for the MRSG Pricing tools project, getting involved with the build of the rating engine and UI. You will also support the MRSL pricing team with their data focused tasks, including improving the standard of pricing related data insights and the management information produced by the team.
You will collaborate closely with the Pricing team and other core project team members, including the transformation project manager and IT architects, to help ensure a successful outcome for the project.
Responsibilities
- Lead the building of the rating engine structures in the new platform, using Python coding as the core tool for replicating the rating calculations as used in the existing Excel based pricing tools.
- Train other members of the pricing team in coding standards and hyperexponential/Python specific techniques.
- Shape and evolve the architecture of the models, identifying opportunities for reusability, scalability, and improved governance across product lines.
- Mentor junior developers and analysts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Meet agreed coding standards, enforce best practices, and conduct code reviews to ensure maintainability and performance.
- Working independently to reconcile your tool build and fix bugs/errors as they arise.
- Act as a technical liaison between pricing, underwriting, IT, and data science teams.
- Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring tools are effectively adopted and utilised.
- Be responsible for time management for your, and more junior members, development work.
- Investigate the available libraries and modules to find the most efficient way to structure, develop and execute the code.
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing efficiency through automation, data integration, and advanced analytics.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for pricing technology across the business.
- Collaborate closely with the Pricing team to ensure full understanding of the rating structure requirements.
- Review and test coding developed by other core team members.
- Work closely with the IT architects to ensure that any data connections developed as part of the model build comply with IT standards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies that could impact the insurance industry.
- Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience in a data science or similar role, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Experience with the hyperexponential Renew platform, particularly with API integration.
- Experience with the Azure DevOps platform, particularly Azure Boards; CI/CD; Azure Repos and Release Management
- Experience managing and training junior developers.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, including statistical analysis and machine learning.
- Experience working with large data sets and advanced data analysis tools, including Python (advanced), SQL and R.
- Experience developing predictive models and machine learning algorithms.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with cloud computing and big data technologies (such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark) is a plus
