Head of UW & Portfolio Management SMF3

 

We are currently looking for a Head of UW & Portfolio Management to work with us on a full-time basis in our London office, reporting into the MRDP Head of Partnerships.

 

SMF 3 Executive Director Senior Manager Function with responsibility for underwriting and distribution.  Manage and oversee MRDP’s delegated underwriting function.

Portfolio performance management support to MRDP and its volume retail lines and SME products distributed by MRDP partners which are primarily in run-off.

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Responsibility for managing and overseeing underwriting for MRDP’s retail property and liability portfolio.
  • Responsible for overseeing MRDP’s underwriting systems and controls.
  • Responsible for providing underwriting support to develop and implement MRDP’s run-off strategy.
  • Manage underwriting aspects of  delegation from capacity providers and onwards sub-delegation by MRDP.
  • Responsibility for oversight of MRDP’s internal and external underwriting and claims ecosystem(s).
  • Ensure that company procedures and systems are followed and maintained in accordance with all applicable compliance manuals, taking due note of MRDP’s regulatory responsibilities.
  • Manage MRDP team to ensure appropriate capture and reporting of all relevant claims and underwriting data to ensure accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Attend MRDP governance committee meetings to report on underwriting to include portfolio performance, metrics and represent the portfolio.
  • Act as an underwriting referral point for queries from the household underwriting team.
  • This role has a direct impact on our customers’ satisfaction and how they perceive the quality of our products and services. You must therefore adhere to the following principles: 
  • Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Financial Ombudsman Services and the FCA. Lloyd’s and other relevant regulatory or industry bodies as appropriate; take a proactive stance and escalate issues immediately where you have identified a potential conduct or reputational risk.
  • Be aware of and have full knowledge of the companies’ Complaints Handling processes and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with the Lloyd’s Minimum Standards and Claims Schemes where appropriate.
  • Understand all appropriate lines of escalation and the responsibilities of the MRDP governance structure, including Underwriting & Pricing Committee, ExCo and Board for Conduct Risk.

Knowledge and Skills

 

  • Industry knowledge of the Personal Lines market
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of all company specific procedures that relate to own role and role of those employees that you are supervising
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proven grasp of data analysis and performance metrics
  • Ability to problem solve quickly and proactively
  • FCA principle-based regulation and relevant insurance law
