The Munich Re Global Real Estate and Services division sets the direction for the management of all aspects of corporate real estate and employee services across the regions for Munich Re offices.

Global Corporate Security is responsible for the protection of employees, sites and assets worldwide. The department works closely with integrated risk management, the business units and the regional organizations of Real Estate and Services to develop and implement risk-based measures and procedures and monitor their effectiveness.

 

Within the newly established department we are looking for a Head of Section - Corporate Security Europe & Latin America, to provide leadership and direction to the regional team based in London.

 

Your Tasks:

 

  • Directly responsible for the execution of security operations and ensures that operations properly control regional and global risks and adhere to policy directly on 2 sites (London and Zurich) and across approximately 40 sites indirectly.
  • Leads employees, security team members, and external resources in the provisioning of security operations.
  • Takes decisions on matters regarding security operations and during critical incidents. Directly responsible for security talent recruitment, management, and development.
  • Responsibility for budget planning and steering as well as target management
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organization to identify and assess potential risks to Munich Re's physical security environment, considering emergent needs, current events, and long-term priorities.
  • Ensure compliance of all contracts and activities with external and internal guidance.
  • Contribute to the development of Munich Re guidelines and policies in non-financial risk management and ensure the applicability to the corporate security framework.
  • Contribute to the global team of risk analysts, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and strategic thinking. Embrace the harmonization efforts on collecting, analyzing and assessing risks within the scope of corporate security.
  • Implement appropriate guidelines and audit mechanisms and coordinate the regional and local security managers.
  • Support and coordinate the business continuity measures and crisis management process, including maintaining crisis management guidelines, designing and delivering training, and conducting security risk assessments for current and prospective operations as the global lead function.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate evolving threat landscapes in respect to business continuity, providing recommendations to mitigate emerging risks.
  • Apply consistent prioritization and notification paths to stakeholders, including thresholds to trigger escalation to incident/crisis processes. Acting as crisis manager/ BCM manager in the event of an incident.
  • Implement emergency and evacuation plans at events and for travelers.
  • Collaborating with other real estate and services functions locally and regionally as well as IT, HR and legal to ensure information exchange, continuous evaluation and development of protection concepts.
  • Building strong relations with external stakeholders such as law enforcement and emergency services
  • Request of approvals and integration of statutory and legal parameters into the regional physical security framework.
  • Security assessment and scoring for new office locations as mandatory input to Real Estate site selection. KPI monitoring and budget steering.
  • Alignment of measures and procedures with workers council and HR as necessary.
  • Conduct investigations into non‑CoC related workplace incidents such as theft, vandalism, or violations of building rules, in collaboration with HR, to identify root causes and responsible individuals.
  • Optimization of workflows and streamlining of processes
  • Collaborating across the security team and with other real estate and services functions to ensure information exchange, continuous evaluation and development of protection concepts.
  • Contribute to a strong team culture and the transformation into a global function

 

 

Your Profile:

 

  • Advanced degree (or equivalent professional accreditation) in a relevant discipline accompanied by extensive progressive security-leadership experience
  • Proven experience in a significant leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage the functional duties of an executive position and manage and expense budget.
  • Track record of managing complex, cross-border security and risk programs in multinational settings
  • Leadership skills to provide direction to the management and professional staff within the organization.
  • Adept at building consensus across diverse operations and navigating overlapping regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization on the status of security and issues surrounding enterprise risk management decisions.
  • Willingness to learn and high intrinsic motivation for personal development
  • Strong communication skills with external and internal contacts
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Business fluent English, both written and spoken, German and Spanish an advantage.
