Head of Program Management

We are currently looking for a Head of Program Management to be based in either London or the United States on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Business Solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership 
  • Ensure the organization aligns and has a plan for achieving the success metrics for the program and projects within GSI0 
  • Establish portfolio level governance structure and sponsorship to ensure alignment with organizational priorities 
  • Portfolio Oversight 
  • Oversee the execution of multiple interdependent programs and projects, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and alignment with the business objectives 
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio roadmap, sequencing, and resource plans 
  • Establish and manage dependencies across related programs and projects ensuring a cohesive delivery 
  • Operational Excellence 
  • Ensure robust change management processes to mitigate risks and enhance delivery outcomes 
  • Drive the development and application of portfolio communication strategies 
  • Team Leadership and Development 
  • Mentor, manage, and coach a team of Program and Project Managers 
  • Build a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration across the team 
  • Foster professional growth and skill development within the team to ensure long-term success 
  • Delivery Management 
  • Track and report on portfolio budgets, milestones, and outcomes 
  • Identify and resolve portfolio risks and issues, developing actional mitigation strategies 
  • Drive adherence to agreed upon baselines for project cost, scope, and timelines 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: 
  • Build strong relationships with business units, IT leadership, and third-party vendors to ensure program alignment and success. 
  • Facilitate executive steering committees and program governance meetings to drive decision-making and alignment. 
  • Continuous Improvement: 
  • Drive innovation in program delivery methodologies and tools to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness. 
  • Actively solicit feedback and apply lessons learned to future initiatives. 

 

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Educated to bachelor's degree level, preferably in IT or similar field 
  • 12 + years of experience in successfully managing the delivering of IT Solutions in Applications delivery and Transformation programs and projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, ideally in a global Finance/Insurance or regulated industry 
  • Able to demonstrate strong management skills including portfolio management, financial management, change management and facilitation 
  • Ability to lead and direct the portfolio under a unified portfolio lens without compromising business outcomes and priority constraints 
  • Ability to work in complex organization structures and tenaciously forge a path for delivery resulting in delivery 
  • Excellent communication skills, strong experience in managing the diverging interests of various stakeholders 
  • Proven ability to create meaningful reports and summarize portfolio health status for stakeholder presentations 
  • Proven ability to manage and track portfolio costs and budgets to agreed baselines 
  • Ability to drive a mixture of functional and geographic workstreams and co-ordinate step change delivery to the business in a unified way 
  • Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing  
  • A self-motivated individual able to work with varying organizational and geographic styles to the end goal of unifying and standardizing the delivery culture and capability 
  • Fluent spoken and written English 
  • Willingness to travel internationally
