Head of Department - Business Solutions NEXT
We are currently looking for a Head of Department to be based in London on a full-time basis. We are looking for a seasoned Transformational Leader to be based in London on a full-time basis.
As the Head of the Department for Business Solutions Delivery – NEXT, you’ll be responsible for owning the IT mandate end-to-end – setting the vision, prioritising investment and driving AI, platform and product-led delivery outcomes across ERGO, Munich Re and ERGO NEXT.
In the first year the you will focus exclusively on the ERGO International Business Division (IBD) transformation as the proving ground for the transformation operating model before shifting focus to the Munich Re Entities.
Success in the role will be determined by two main deliverables:
- A measurable IBD outcome - at least one squad launched, MVP shipped, and target KPIs met.
- A codified, replicable playbook - squad design, phase gates, governance and talent model that will be generalised and rolled out across ERGO and Munich Re Entities from Year 2 onwards .
Responsibilities:
- Strategy & investment - Set the IT roadmap; prioritise funding and FTE across the four capability pillars (AI & Data, Engineering & Platform, Insurance Expertise, Operations & Enablement).
- Operating model - Stand up product-led squads end-to-end across the three phases (Planning, Build & Launch MVP, Iterate & Optimise) and enforce consistent ways of working.
- Talent & capability - Recruit and develop squad leads, product managers, AI engineers, platform leads, software engineers and designers; build a bench that scales with squad demand.
- Delivery & outcomes - Drive measurable outcomes (sales, channel enablement, loss ratio, cycle time, platform adoption) and hold squads accountable to them.
- Stakeholder leadership - Partner with Embedded Business Product Owners across ERGO Germany, ERGO Int'l, Munich Re Entities, GSI and ERGO NEXT; align with tower leads on shared services.
- Governance & reporting - Report progress, risks and spend to ERGO Next CTO & CEO, the Group
