ESG Underwriting Analyst
We are looking for a ESG Underwriting Analyst to join our team in the London City Office on a full time basis with hybrid working of 2-3 days per week.

ESG touches multiple aspects of the underwriting process and you will be able to support the business to navigate upcoming changes through internal and external collaboration.
The ESG Underwriting Analyst will play a key role in embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into the underwriting process MRS-GM. This role supports our commitment to sustainable and responsible underwriting, aligning with both Group-wide ESG policies and Lloyd’s market requirements. The analyst forms an integral part of the support framework with underwriting teams, Group and GSI functions, and other stakeholders, ensuring ESG considerations are integrated into business decision-making, reporting and governance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Embedding ESG in Underwriting
- Support underwriters in assessing and incorporating ESG considerations into day-to-day underwriting decisions.
- Develop and maintain practical ESG guidance and tools for underwriting teams.
- Monitor industry and regulatory developments, ensuring underwriting practices remain aligned with evolving ESG standards.
- Communication & Implementation
- Translate and communicate Group ESG policies, ensuring their effective implementation within MRS-GM.
- Assist in developing and updating local ESG-related policies and procedures.
- Act as a point of contact for ESG queries from underwriting and support teams.
- Reporting & Data
- Coordinate and prepare Group ESG reporting requirements, including disclosures on areas such as thermal coal exposure and other restricted activities.
- Contribute to the development of ESG metrics and dashboards for monitoring performance.
- Training & Awareness
- Support the design and delivery of ESG training and awareness sessions for underwriters and underwriting assistants.
- Help embed ESG as part of ongoing professional development across the business.
- Team Contribution & Collaboration
- Provide support to ESG colleagues on cross-team priorities such as governance, reporting, and regulatory responses.
- Assist with ad hoc tasks and projects, including data management, presentations, and market engagement.
- Collaborate with Group, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Claims teams to ensure consistent ESG integration across functions.
- Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
Knowledge and Skills
- The successful candidate will be an authentic individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to operate effectively in the local and global framework
- Passion to strive for ESG goals together with a diverse set of stakeholders
- Ability to contribute to the clarification of the requirements for Underwriting, in an evolving environment
- Willingness to quickly learn and develop specialist knowledge of relevant requirements, and ability to translate knowledge into practical methods
- Good knowledge about (specialty) underwriting / (re-)insurance products, experience in multiple lines of businesses advantageous
- Creative and strategic thinker also beyond currently existing demands and solutions
- University Degree and/or relevant professional qualification
