About the role:

As part of the Underwriting & Products Team you will be working on the development, approval and monitoring of insurance products with a focus on the pricing and underwriting performance. Within the team, you will be responsible for the review of pricing in our DA business, development of internal MI dashboards and support the team in analysing data relating to each product, including pricing and conduct risk and reaching out to stakeholders with analysis on developments within the products we underwrite.

 

The Underwriting and Pricing Oversight Manager will bring strong numeric and problem solving skills to the team, and experience of pricing within the insurance industry. You will lend a hand to multiple areas of the business to ensure appropriate oversight of the products distributed by Great Lakes.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the UK Underwriting and Product Team data analysis and stakeholder engagement to achieve effective data management and insights.
  • Providing reports on Underwriting and Product performance for senior management, and internal and external stakeholders including GIPP quarterly and annual attestation.
  • Oversight and review of pricing of DA products including analysis of commissions.
  • Challenge pricing models, product definitions, and data analytic techniques used during the product approval process for any new products distributed by GLISE.
  • Provide feedback on the price and value during the product review process ensuring that our products meet regulatory requirements from a pricing and monitoring perspective.
  • Support and add value to the continuous monitoring process for our delegated authority business.
  • Work with the Underwriting and Product Teams across London and Munich to collaborate on Analytical Topics.
  • Participate in selected quarterly meetings with the respective Business Units or Agents to discuss current performance.

     Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in personal lines pricing roles
  • Data analytics experience with relevant software training
  • Strong analytical abilities and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a great teammate and highly motivated
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • University degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or equivalent technical qualification.

 

Desired Qualifications and Educational Background:

  • Knowledge of Power BI (or other visualisation tools)
  • Knowledge of R and/or Python
  • University degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or equivalent technical degree.
  • Actuarial qualification (or progression towards) would be advantageous

In addition to the responsibilities set out above, the role/function will also become responsible for:

 

  • Ensure compliance with Insurance Distribution Directive 
  • Satisfying all regulatory reporting requirements in collaboration with the reporting function
  • Ensuring compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules
