Bell & Clements aims to provide US-based Managing General Agents (MGAs), Coverholders, and Third-Party Administrators (TPAs) with the most comprehensive, efficient, and time-sensitive reporting process available among carriers to manage binding authority contracts.
Based in London, the Customer Onboarding Team reports to the Chief Innovation Officer and is part of the Data Solutions Department. The Customer Onboarding Team is responsible for designing and building data models to capture standardised premium and claims datasets that meet the business and market requirements within which B&C operates and ultimately onboard our clients to the datasets.
The Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Customer Onboarding Analyst with a strong background in insurance data and client integrations. The successful candidate will be responsible for building out our insurance datasets, developing API specification documentation to facilitate seamless API integrations with our US-based Managing General Agents (MGAs). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of insurance data models, schema design principles, and data integration methodologies. The purpose of this position is to ensure the successful onboarding of data from our MGA and TPA partners, resolving any blockers that may arise during the integration process. This role will require collaboration with MGAs/TPA’s to progress integrations and with internal departments to resolve any issues that may impede the integration process.
Responsibilities
You should have acquired a comprehensive understanding of Insurance in order to converse with the business, whether that be Claims, Underwriting, Broking, to ensure their data requirements are being captured from source systems. You will be expected to have input into aiding the creation of test cases, by leveraging the knowledge gained in the requirements gathering to shape key test cases and outcomes.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design and build out insurance datasets, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
- API Specification Documentation: Develop comprehensive API specification documentation, including API workflows, data models, and usage guidelines for both SOAP WebServices and RESTful APIs.
- Data Integration: Work with MGAs/TPA’s to integrate insurance datasets, ensuring seamless realtime data exchange.
- Client Onboarding: Collaborate with clients to onboard them to our APIs, providing technical guidance and support to ensure successful integration.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their technical requirements and providing tailored support to ensure successful API adoption.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data operations, IT, and business stakeholders, to ensure successful data integration and API adoption.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Participate in testing and quality assurance activities to ensure API and data integration meet business requirements and industry standards.
- Documentation and Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including API documentation, data models, and integration guides.
- Data Sample Creation: Create sample data files in XML and JSON formats to facilitate testing and validation of API integrations.
- Schema Definition: Assist in building schema definitions for XML and JSON data formats, ensuring consistency and accuracy across data exchanges.
- Data Mapping: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data mapping strategies, ensuring seamless data exchange between systems.
- API Onboarding Process: Develop and implement a structured API onboarding process to ensure clients are successfully integrated with our APIs.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to clients during the onboarding process, including API key provisioning, authentication, and data formatting.
- API Testing and Validation: Collaborate with clients to test and validate API integrations, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Client Feedback and Support: Gather client feedback and provide ongoing support to ensure successful API adoption and integration.
- Business Analysis knowledge and experience gained within the insurance industry, preferably Lloyd’s of London and other Company Markets.
- Strong understanding of insurance data models, including claims, policies, and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical thinker with the ability to assimilate large amounts of data/information and produce concise summaries in an appropriate format.
- We are looking for a naturally inquisitive, motivated individual who is also confident enough to ask when they don‘t fully understand.
- In order to succeed in the role you will need to forge strong relationships with stakeholders around the project, so good people skills are key.
- Experienced working with Excel or Dataiku in manipulating and analysing data.
- Enjoys a challenge – works hard and is capable of quickly understanding the technical and/or business detail even in unfamiliar areas.
- Able to work collaboratively and to build great working relationships as well as share information and ideas with others.
- You will be focused on/committed to continuous learning and development.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with data formats, including JSON, XML, and CSV.

This position is offered on a Permanent basis. Annual salary will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Annual leave - 25 days per year (plus bank holidays), increases with length of service.
