Description: 

The role is responsible for underwriting reinsurance cyber business (treaty and facultative) in line with local underwriting authorities and client strategies, managing the existing portfolio, and developing new business opportunities across Korea and South East Asia. Reporting legally to the CEO with a functional reporting line to Head of Cyber, Asia (excluding Greater China), you will  work closely with the Senior Cyber Underwriter in Korea, contributing as a key member of the cyber team and supporting shared business objectives.

Your Role

  • Product development, coverage analysis and acceptance of portfolio and single risk offers, including premium calculation and contract negotiations directly with cedants and brokers
  • Developing a portfolio of profitable cyber business and identifying new business opportunities through active relationship development with brokers and clients
  • Further defining underwriting excellence initiatives to develop standards, guidelines and efficient processes, especially with respect to accumulation risk monitoring and steering
  • Supporting management in developing industry and product strategies, business planning, and internal reporting
  • Improving the external representation of Munich Re through appropriate publications, external presentations/seminars and participation in panel discussions, and contributing thought leadership and supporting industry best practices in the cyber insurance market
  • Liaising with regional and global cyber underwriting teams, local branch management, brokers and cedants across Korea and South East Asia

Your Profile

  • University degree, preferably in Information Technology or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in facultative, broking, and/or direct Cyber underwriting
  • Experience in stakeholder management in a matrix system
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skill set
  • Ability to generate ideas for improvement, take advantage of opportunities, and suggest innovations, combined with self-awareness and a readiness to learn
  • Demonstrates initiative, engagement and a proactive approach to the role, with a high level of productivity and self-direction
  • Positive and collaborative mindset, actively supporting colleagues and fostering a strong team culture
  • Willingness to travel frequently to support client engagement and business development activities
  • Excellent written and spoken business English and professional-level fluency in Korean
