Description: 
The Munich Re Global Real Estate and Services division sets the direction for the management of all aspects of corporate real estate and employee services across the regions for Munich Re offices.
 
Global Corporate Security is responsible for the protection of employees, sites and assets worldwide. The department works closely with integrated risk management, the business units and the regional organizations of Real Estate and Services to develop and implement risk-based measures and procedures and monitor their effectiveness.
 
Reporting to the Regional Corporate Security Manager, you will be based out of our Johannesburg office.

 

Your Role

  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with physical risk and security standards.
  • Conducting risk assessments and security surveys in accordance with Munich Re standards and local regulatory requirements.
  • Applying standardized methods for assessing risks and implementing measures to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborating across the security team and with other real estate and services functions to ensure information exchange, continuous evaluation and development of protection concepts.
  • Overseeing reception and visitor access management, including the management of access authorizations and access cards in accordance with internal regulations.
  • Monitoring, handling and documenting incidents that fall under the corporate security mandate, with the support of external service providers.
  • Supporting projects to ensure appropriate security measures are planned and implemented.
  • Monitoring the functionality of security technology and initiating renewal and maintenance activities as required.
  • Driving and supporting the global implementation of new technology as part of the strategic agenda of Real Estate and Services globally.
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive data management system for corporate security.
  • Managing and optimizing security platform data, including alerting, intelligence, access control and physical security tools.
  • Administering and maintaining access control systems, conducting security audits and documenting incidents.
  • Training employees on access control systems and security best practices.
  • Assisting with the management of surveillance cameras (CCTV) and lock management in accordance with internal regulations and in coordination with the local data protection office.
  • Selecting, steering and coordinating third-party vendors for Munich Re locations.
  • Managing partner budgets and performance.
  • Developing strong formal relationships with external partners to ensure consistency, mutual respect and effective target management.
  • Optimizing workflows and streamlining processes.
  • Collaborating across the security team and with other real estate and services functions to ensure information exchange, continuous evaluation and development of protection concepts.
  • Contributing to a strong team culture and the transformation into a global function.

 

Your Profile

  • Demonstrated experience in corporate physical security systems, preferably within a global environment.
  • A completed undergraduate degree in security management or a related field is required; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in risk management and crisis management are a strong asset.
  • Experience managing security technology projects, including access control and CCTV monitoring systems, with strong technical knowledge and proficiency in security systems and systems integration.
  • Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently, including under limited supervision.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • An independent and structured working style combined with an approachable mindset.
  • Willingness to learn and strong motivation for personal development.
  • Strong communication skills with both external and internal stakeholders.
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Proficiency in German or other regional languages would be beneficial.
