Description: 

You will fall within the Tax and Financial Accounting department at Munich Re Africa Branch (MRAB). It is responsible for accurately recording financial transactions of the company in the General Ledger. MRAB performs this recording in accordance with  International Financial Reporting Standards.  This facilitates accurate internal and external reporting of the entity's financial performance and overall financial position.

The Financial Accountant role is an originator of accounting information and ensures that financial information required for internal and external reporting is available, complete and accurate. The role includes collecting, analysing, investigating, maintaining data, and preparing detailed reconciliations. You will report to the Team Leader, who in turn reports to an Operational Manager.

Your Role

  • Process and account for fixed assets transactions, including purchases, depreciation and disposals, following internal policy.
  • Prepare fixed asset reconciliations on a quarterly basis to ensure accuracy of recording.
  • Prepare cashflow forecasts in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure a sound understanding of potential inflows and outflows of cash.
  • Ensure that all open items on bank suspense accounts are cleared through posting of bank and cash transactions.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations to ensure completeness of accounting.
  • Reconciliation of investment General Ledger accounts.
  • Bank administration tasks e.g preparation of instruction letters.
  • Investment administration tasks e.g preparation of investment settlement instructions.

Your Profile

· The minimum qualification is a BCom (Accounting) degree

· At least 3 years' experience in financial accounting, with experience working in a SAP environment

· Good Excel skills

· Teamwork and collaboration
