The Paralegal will provide organizational and administrative support for compliance for all states affecting insurance business operations, adjusters, producers and certificates of authority, regulations pertaining to excess and surplus lines and/or unauthorized insurance requirements, and other matters related to domestic and foreign insurance business.  Provide assistance in maintaining corporate policies/procedures and general corporate governance matters.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Manage calendar of yearly required filings, including:
    • Analyze filing requirements, gather required information, and prepare and submit required filings;
    • Interact with various regulatory agencies, including state departments of insurance and secretaries of state, as needed; 
    • Research and track regulatory and legislative matters, draft documents and advise regulatory team personnel regarding various insurance regulatory issues such as licensing requirements;
    • Provide support for producer contracting process including drafting routine contract amendments.
  • Provide support as needed for corporate governance including:
    • HSB US and international legal entity and branch office management (including US state insurance holding company filings/reporting, ad hoc board resolutions, minutes, and consents);
    • Cross-functional support for internal group-wide compliance function, including oversight and reporting associated with internal policies and guidelines.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Mid-level with 8 or more years of experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

 

  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
