Investment Accountant Associate - Hartford, CT Office

Location: Hartford, CT Office (hybrid work schedule)
In this position you are responsible for supporting HSB investment accounting function. This encompasses financial statements & footnotes reporting, journal entry booking, and reconciling accounting figures/data between PeopleSoft general ledger system at HSB and Aladdin/PAM accounting system at BlackRock (third-party investment accounting service agent) separately on both an IFRS and STAT basis of accounting.
Also responsible for preparing various investment schedules for IFRS 9 and HSB Management reporting; as well as for working in conjunction with personnel from Investment Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Statutory Reporting teams; while also working regularly in conjunction with external colleagues from BlackRock.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work experience
- 1+ years of accounting experience
- Investment Accounting experience is preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of investment accounting; preferably within the insurance industry
- Knowledge of fixed income securities (Bonds, ABS, MBS) and their intrinsic, contractual features
- Strong analytical skills
- Sound written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and within a team while adhering to strict deadlines
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access)
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger system is a plus
- Knowledge of SOVOS statutory reporting system is a plus
- Knowledge of PAM For Investments accounting system is a plus
