Description: 

Responsible for the life cycle management of assumed and ceded reinsurance contracts and other documents handled by the group.  Acts as the lead reinsurance contract representative across HSB, including executive leaders.  The position ensures the timely execution of contract terms and conditions, and their compliance with HSB and Munich Re standards regulatory requirements, and retention policies.  As lead negotiator, the position advocates for HSB’s position, provides contract interpretations, develops solutions to contract related issues, and effectively balances client requests against HSB corporate strategies.  The position is responsible for developing and maintaining a continuous improvement plan that drives efficiency and reduces contract turnaround time, and also for supporting business initiatives, such as process improvements that enhance the client experience, and new product development.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • 12+ years of experience with reinsurance contracts (e.g. underwriting, legal, accounting, etc.)
  • 10+ previous experience with drafting and negotiating assumed or ceded reinsurance contracts is required
  • 3+ years of management experience required
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Law degree is preferred
  • Advanced degree or professional designation in insurance is a plus
