Head of Advanced Analytics & AI

Responsible for leading HSB’s efforts to accelerate the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and machine learning solutions across the enterprise. This role will lead HSB’s strategy and implementation of data-driven insights and AI technologies and solutions. In addition, responsible for overseeing the development and execution of advanced analytics initiatives to inform business strategy, solve business problems and drive data-driven decision-making while automating business/modeling tasks throughout the organization. This role oversees HSB’s compliance with Munich Re and local regulatory AI Governance requirements and combines strategic vision with technical acumen to drive business value and transform operations using AI and machine learning (ML). In addition, it will have oversight for various aspects of the ML Ops (MLOps) Lifecycle including establishing MLOps processes and working closely with our IT partners on identifying and implementing technology. This role will build, mentor and empower a high-performing team of data engineering, data science and AI and ML professionals and interns as well as foster cross-functional collaboration with all departments across HSB Group, GSI and the Munich Re enterprise.
Education and Experience
- Advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience is required
- 15 + years of related experience in insurance, project management and/or data, analytics and AI technology and processes
- Proven track record in managing a team, successful ability to influence others and achieving results
- Deep experience managing senior executive stakeholders, large group of partners that could include vendors and shared services firms
- Experience leading a data/ AI transformation that positively disrupts and transforms culture in and across functions and including governance and processes a plus
Knowledge and Skills
- In depth knowledge of HSB’s business models, leadership and strategy and understanding of the Munich Re structure preferred.
- Leadership competencies with the ability to collaborate with others and establish working relationships, communicate effectively across the organization and at different levels, think and act strategically, and influence key leaders.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities – demonstrated ability to interact and lead in a multi-functional context; able to engage with all levels of leadership. - Strong project management and presentation skills, experience managing budgets and schedules
