About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Senior Client Manager to join our Custom Risk Solutions division. This role is pivotal in driving profitable reinsurance growth through new client acquisition and cross-selling within our existing client base. You will serve as a trusted advisor to top-tier clients, including C-suite executives, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, value-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for key reinsurance clients, fostering strong, strategic partnerships.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client operations, strategies, and challenges to craft tailored account plans aligned with HSB’s value proposition.
  • Lead internal teams in designing and delivering client-centric solutions across underwriting, operations, engineering, and service functions.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with prospective clients and expand relationships within existing accounts.
  • Manage a robust pipeline from initial engagement through deal structuring, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Stay current on HSB’s offerings and develop customized solutions leveraging our full suite of insurance, engineering, and technology capabilities.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of experience in a client-facing role within the insurance industry, preferably in specialty P&C markets.
  • Proven success in managing strategic client relationships and delivering profitable growth.
  • Strong background in business development, solution selling, and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Experience working with or within insurance carriers, with a solid understanding of their operational and strategic drivers.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is a plus.

Preferred Knowledge & Skills

  • Expertise in specialty P&C markets such as E&S carriers, MGAs, programs, Lloyd’s, and large commercial risks.
  • Strong understanding of insurance carrier business models, distribution strategies, and underwriting processes.
  • Familiarity with value-added services like risk management, engineering, IoT, and predictive analytics.
  • Knowledge of specialty products including equipment breakdown, cyber, EPLI, service line, and home appliance coverage.
  • Strategic thinker with experience in account-based marketing (ABM) and B2B go-to-market strategies.
  • Excellent relationship management and consultative sales skills, especially with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools such as Salesforce or Grand Central.

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations, including California.  The salary ranged posted below applies to the Company’s Hartford, CT location.

•    The salary range for this position is $ 141,800 - $207,900, plus opportunity for company bonus.  In addition, the company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

•    The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range of candidates hired. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
