AVP FP&A Business Partner - Claims

Serve as a financial advisor and strategic consultant to our Claims business division, supporting the VP FP&A Business Partner. Perform financial modeling and scenario analysis to provide insights to the Claims leadership team and the VP FP&A Business Partner and to support strategic and operational decision making. Perform financial modeling, scenario analysis, and cost-benefit analysis to evaluate business initiatives, operating model changes, staffing and resource needs, and other Claims decisions. Coordinate with Finance and Claims partners to understand operational drivers and their impact on financial performance. Will also have significant financial reporting and analysis responsibilities and interaction with Claims leaders, Finance leadership, and reporting teams at HSB and Munich Re, primarily in support of the VP FP&A Business Partner. This includes driving the annual planning and quarterly forecasting process with the various business leaders and the VP FP&A Business Partner and Claims stakeholders, as well as providing analysis related to workforce modeling, expenses, operating metrics, and key performance indicators.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field is required
- MBA with concentration in Finance, CPA or CFA preferred
- 15+ years of overall professional experience required with strong financial analysis skills supporting a business unit.
- 5+ years of broad Claims finance experience in support of operations preferred;
- Experience with financial planning and forecasting, expense analysis, financial modeling, and business performance analysis.
- Experience developing workforce, volume, expense, or other driver-based financial models preferred.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with senior financial and business leaders and providing analysis that supports business decisions.
- Experience presenting complex financial and operational information to senior management in a clear and straightforward manner.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong business and financial acumen, sound technical skills, and an understanding of insurance concepts desired
- Ability to build complex financial models, including driver-based, workforce, and expense models.
- Knowledge of general industry and insurance concepts and ability to pick up new concepts quickly desired
- Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
- Ability to anticipate issues, seek out and analyze information collaboratively to propose solutions.
- Excellent customer focus and ability to partner with internal customers including, but not limited to Claims, Finance, actuarial teams, and business segments.
- Results oriented and pragmatic management approach that is continuously focused on execution and problem solving while balancing speed and accuracy.
- Strong influencing skills and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and reprioritize.
- Strong communication and presentation skills and ability to present to senior audiences, able to tell the business story through presentations and support it with data
- Familiarity with actuarial methodologies, Claims concepts, and insurance financial concepts a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, including data modeling, Power BI and Word essential.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Effective problem solver, who anticipates issues, and seeks out and analyzes information collaboratively to propose solutions a plus
- Proven ability to partner with business leaders, performing data and information analysis leading to business recommendations and decisions
- Strong analytical skills and ability to construct business cases
- Strong ability to integrate financial and operational data from multiple sources and translate the results into meaningful business insights.
- Ability to translate complex financial results into a clear business story for the VP FP&A Business Partner and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently on complex analyses while operating within the broader direction and priorities established by the VP FP&A Business Partner.
