The AVP, Embedded Programs & Product will be a key member of HSB’s growing MGA & Embedded Team. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and launch of innovative insurance products tailored to embedded / affinity distribution partners. Building on the team’s proven success, the AVP will focus on specialized offerings such as Group Identity Protection, Cyber Warranties, Equipment Breakdown, and other niche coverages that align with embedded ecosystem needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end development of embedded insurance products, with a focus on cyber, tech performance guarantees, and equipment-related risk coverage.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to co-create go-to-market strategies.
  • Partner with Operations to analyze portfolio and partner performance, and manage post-launch program optimization using data insights, feedback, and regulatory developments.
  • Define product requirements, coverage terms, policy language, and pricing structures, to include as applicable at the individual account level on bespoke accounts.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams—Actuarial, Corporate Underwriting, Global Product Owners, Claims, Legal etc —and external stakeholders including brokers, OEMs, and tech service providers to build scalable and compliant solutions.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and distribution opportunities to develop competitive, customer-centric insurance programs.

Act as a subject matter expert on embedded insurance within HSB, particularly in emerging and evolving risk categories, supporting the Custom Risk Solutions team and broader organization.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance product development, underwriting, or program management, preferably in commercial lines or specialty insurance.
  • Experience working within or closely with MGAs, Carriers, Brokers,  InsurTechs, or Embedded Distribution Channels.
  • Background in cyber insurance, technology risk, or warranty products is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of launching insurance programs in partnership with external platforms or technology-driven partners.

The Company is open to considering candidates in numerous locations.  The salary ranged posted below applies to the Company’s home office, Hartford, CT location.

 

The salary range for this position is $135,600 - $198,900 plus opportunity for company bonus up to 15%.  In addition, the company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
