Title: Technical Training Engineer Surveyor

Job Purpose
The role is aimed at delivering technical training, development, investigations & oversight to new and existing Engineering Surveyors and apprenticeships.
The TTES will report into the REM as the line manager and brief & liaise with the Technical Training & Compliance Manager (TTCM) on training related matters.
The role will draw on experience gained in the examination or operation of lifting and pressure equipment as defined in The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application Regulations) Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) 2000 and other Engineering disciplines with defined authorised competencies. The role will require an excellent understanding of the current Irish / British and European Standards as well as industry guidance (e.g. SAFed and HSA /HSE)
The role requires training, coaching, advising, mentoring & assessing existing Engineer Surveyors and trainees. You will work closely with the TTCM to ensure a consistent approach to training, assessment & development.
The role will include the delivery of the field assessment program and reporting back the findings to the REM and TTCM.
The TTES will operate as a motion kinetic report reviewer to develop existing Engineer Surveyors & new starters to approved reporting status.
The TTES will be involved with Technical Investigations & operate in the capacity of a “critical friend” by attending the site visits for Engineer Surveyors following on from direction by the Operations or Technical Teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical training support to meet the requirements of the business.
- Train, coach, mentor and guide new starters, ensuring they are given support when joining HSB.
- Complete all administration required to document the training & assessment process.
- Work with Regional Engineering Managers and the Technical Training team to ensure our Engineer Surveyors are supported and are able to provide consistent and high-quality inspection services to our clients.
- Highlight training needs and gaps and work with the Technical Training Team to address.
- Represent the Company on technical matters & investigations where required.
- Work with the Technical Training & Compliance Manager to produce and deliver training courses for internal and external purposes.
- Assist in ensuring the company’s accreditation to applicable standards is maintained, i.e.
ISO/IEC 17020.
- Maintain an awareness of developments in standards and legislation affecting Engineer Surveyors disciplines and support change as required.
- When not conducting training related duties the TTES will operate as an Engineer Surveyor as defined in the specific Role Profile.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Lifting and Pressure experience (essential)
- Have experience of working within an engineering environment with excellent working knowledge of Irish / UK requirements for Engineering Inspection.
- Effective presentation skills and experience of devising and delivering training courses.
- Training or coaching/mentoring skills.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in an engineering discipline as associated with inspection service.
- Minimum HNC or equivalent (or working towards).
- Consideration would be given for previous technical training/coaching or mentoring experience.

- Should be registered with a professional engineering institution as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent
