The Opportunity

With this opportunity, your primary responsibility will be to assist our MR F&C Underwriting Analyst team by providing high level support of technical underwriting, internal processes, complex submissions, training, and special projects. This role also includes the mentorship and guidance of the team, especially less experienced Underwriting Analysts. You will also be responsible for the duties of an Underwriting Analyst which include, but are not limited to; delivering timely and accurate risk clearance, account setup, rating and policy issuance.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Fulfill the daily responsibilities of an Underwriting Analyst, including but not limited to:
    • Basic rating and pricing models. 
    • Preparation of Schedule of Values, exposure data for further analysis.
    • Clearing, preparing quotes and binders.
    • Policy Review, Issuance and/or Processing for insurance single risk policies, endorsements and/or reinsurance certificates.
  • Create and implement training plans for new hires. 
  • Maintain team Standard Operating Procedures and shared resources.
  • Work closely with the Business Partners to ensure they understand the Underwriting Support process. 
  • Identify risks and recommend process improvements including, tool enhancements. 
  • Perform quality control of system entries to ensure data accuracy and mitigate any resulting financial impacts; maximize the integrity, quality and usability of information which will minimize discrepancies encountered by local and global data consumers.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of global or local projects as assigned.  Participate in User Acceptance Testing, document findings and collaborate with applicable partners to ensure the unit’s needs are met.
  • Promote a team environment by actively participating in group settings. 
  • Demonstrate good time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  • Assist manager with any supervisory tasks as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: accounting errors, rush requests, team trainings, technological issues, workload management.

 

Qualifications

 

  • 5 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with a preference in underwriting support functions
  • Proactive and passionate service approach with ability to take ownership and drive issues to resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous and changing environments
  • Ability to work quickly and with minimal direct oversight
  • Be able to manage competing priorities within a team first, solutions oriented culture
  • Intermediate to expert level computer skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent customer service skills with successful ability to take ownership of and resolve issues
  • Detail oriented and results-driven
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to Travel <10%

 

The Company is hiring this role in Chicago, IL. The salary range posted below applies to the Company’s Chicago location.

 

The base salary range anticipated for this position is $82,800 - $121,400  plus opportunity for company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay.  In addition, the company makes available a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). 

 

The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in Chicago. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
