Whether you have experience in insurance, financial services, or another customer-focused commercial role, we are looking for individuals with the enthusiasm and potential to learn.

In this role, you will receive support and training to develop your underwriting skills while helping to build and maintain a profitable, well-balanced, and growing portfolio of business. Responsibilities:

  • Assess and process new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments within delegated authority levels;
  • Develop and apply knowledge of Cargo & Freight insurance products, underwriting principles and risk assessment;
  • Build positive relationships with brokers delivering a high standard of service and responsiveness;
  • Gather, review and analyse underwriting information to support sound underwriting decisions and maintain a profitable, well-balanced portfolio;
  • Plan and manage own workload to handle the team’s responsibilities efficiently and effectively;
  • Participate in broker meetings, training sessions and market activities to develop technical and commercial knowledge;
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes, efficiency and service delivery across the Cargo & Freight team;
  • Take ownership of personal development, actively building technical underwriting knowledge, market awareness and commercial understanding.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships;
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to review information and make informed decisions;
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively;
  • Confidence working with data, systems and technology;
  • Ability to learn new concepts and apply them in a practical business setting;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment;
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and personal development;
  • Strong customer service mindset, with a focus on delivering a positive broker experience;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Teams and Outlook.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within insurance or financial services;
  • Exposure to broker-facing or relationship management activities;
  • An understanding of Cargo, Marine &/or Freight Insurance.

If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with everything outlined, or you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the candidate we are looking for!
