Head of Subsection – HSB BSW
We are currently looking for a Head of Subsection to be based in Birkenhead on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Section – HSB Engineering.
As a Head of Subsection within GSI IT you are expected to lead the delivery of IT services for the HSB BWS Group within the GSI and Munich RE group. You will manage the day to day delivery of IT Services to the group. Ensuring high levels of service, compliance and Security.
Responsibilities:
- Delivery of the short and long term objectives for the HSB BWS Group
- Be a point of contact for all of HSB BWS Group relating to any IT Service related issue.
- Manage, present and share, the Run and Transform Budgets for the HSB BWS Group
- Be accountable for all the project & program level status reporting, project financials reporting, resource management, financial management, timesheet tracking, etc. and act with the delegated authority of leadership
- Managing and supporting change effectively and acting as a change agent considering all aspects of change, such as appropriate approvals processes, Testing, communications and Training
- Demonstrate understanding of Business Direction and alignment of roadmaps and staff activity to this.
- Work with local teams as well as GSI capability owners to define a strategy for fit for purpose tech stack
- Champion the needs of HSB BWS Group within the wider GSI organization and vice versa
- Management and oversight of all products within the HSB BWS Group Environment.
- Lead a team of qualified IT experts, motivating, coaching, and empowering staff
- Lead the recruitment and development of talent to deliver all approved global and regional in-flight and pipeline initiatives – with an emphasis on deep business knowledge, product management, solution architecture and DevOps.
- Ensure that the Products of the group align to MRE and GSI standards of Governance, including but not limited to Procurement, RACE, Disaster Recovery, and security compliance.
- Manage the vendors of the group working with BPOs and Product Managers on ongoing successful relationships
- Utilise the capabilities of the MRE and GSI environment to deliver best results for the Group
- Leverage and co-ordinate with the Application Management Service (AMS) on mature products of the product portfolio
- Actively manage, troubleshoot and resolve escalated items at a Program and Product-level, including highlighting any gaps within budget or resources required. This includes vendor management deliverables
Knowledge and Skills
- Outstanding leadership competency and at least 7 years of relevant professional management experience in IT preferably in delivery of IT projects and products in a financial services customer business domain
- Experience with IT platform design, development, consultancy and operations
- An emphatic manager with a high focus on mentorship and enablement and well-connected to the operations globally
- Ability to build teams and strong skills in the management of internal and external interfaces, also in an international context
- Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing
- Demonstrated ability to know/assess where the pain points and challenges are, especially regarding IT infrastructure landscape, systems architecture, business processes and data flows, and maintaining high levels of availability and performance
- Change management experience and outstanding organizational skills
- High level of service and internal/external client orientation as well as driver of innovation for IT
- Flexibility and bringing a curious and creative mindset, open to new things and able to propose innovative ideas
- Excellent collaboration and communications skills to deal with senior leaders, stakeholders and executives and to build and nurture business relationships
