Collectively HSB is the UK and Ireland’s only group of companies solely focused on providing specialist engineering and technology insurance solutions and risk focused inspection services and assessments to its customers.
Role Overview
The Head of Business Transformation will be responsible for driving and overseeing a comprehensive Strategic transformation programme aimed at modernising operations, enhancing customer experience, and building a future-ready organisation. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping strategic direction, ensuring successful delivery of key initiatives, and establishing a high-performing transformation team with a focus on change management
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
Provide strategic direction and coordination of the Transformation programme ensuring that it integrates all required components required to support the business case.
Work in close partnership with the Managing Director and Executive Management Team and wider group to ensure accountability and delivery.
Define and articulate the transformation vision, objectives, and roadmap aligned with organisational strategy.
Provide expert advice to senior leadership on prioritisation and sequencing of transformation initiatives.
Champion cultural change and embed a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement.
Team Building & Capability Development
Build and manage a high-performing transformation team, including recruitment, coaching, and development.
Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance metrics for team members.
Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments.
Stakeholder Engagement
Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including change team across HSB UK&I & BTO HSB US and the ITSSO
Communicate progress, risks, and benefits effectively to all levels of the organisation.
Drive change adoption through structured change management and training programmes
Leads the development and maintenance of stakeholder mapping, communication and reporting.
Performance & Risk Management
Monitor and report on transformation KPIs, milestones, and benefits realisation (Benefits realisation framework to be introduced)
Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure programme resilience.
Maintain compliance with FCA and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
Programme Delivery
Lead the planning, execution, and governance of transformation projects across multiple workstreams.
Ensure delivery within agreed timelines, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Implement robust programme management frameworks, reporting structures, and risk controls
Deliver transformation projects/programmes and service improvements that are time-bound, resourced and outcomes focussed.
Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration and lead a core transformation function within BWIS.
Implement disciplined programme and project management approaches with clear reporting lines.
Take a hands-on approach to enable/facilitate clear delivery of planned outcomes.
Performance & Risk Management

Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Lead digital transformation initiatives, including automation, data analytics, and customer self-service solutions.
Benchmark against industry best practices and incorporate emerging technologies.
Ensure transformation outcomes deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Proven experience leading large-scale transformation programmes within financial services, insurance, or regulated industries.
Strong knowledge of programme management methodologies
Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements within UK insurance markets. Working within FCA/PRA regulatory environments.
Strong business and commercial acumen.
Demonstrated experience in managing ‘upward’ among senior leadership.
Desirable:
Experience in digital transformation and technology-enabled change.
Familiarity with building warranty or property insurance sectors.
Professional certifications (e.g., MSP, Lean Six Sigma).
A high level of empathy and the ability to vary styles of interaction to match the needs of a variety of stakeholders.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Degree in Business, Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Professional programme management qualification preferred.
