Title: Underwriting & Claims Intern, Life and Health

Munich Re Beijing Branch, part of Munich Re, the world’s largest reinsurer, is looking for an Underwriting and Claims Operations Intern to strengthen our consultative advisory services for primary insurers in the Greater China region.
We are seeking a candidate with a strong academic background in Insurance, Medicine, or Actuarial Science to provide support for various external and internal projects. The primary responsibilities of this role will include assisting with underwriting cases and maintaining our Underwriting Manual system, which is a critical component of our operational framework. This hands-on experience will enable you to apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems, develop your technical skills, and enhance your understanding of the industry.

While we expect the majority of work to be full-time and onsite with the team, we are open to provide some flexibility when it comes to core studies related inquiries.
YOUR ROLE
- Collaborate with our underwriters to provide support for underwriting cases;
- Review and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of facultative case lists;
- Maintain and update the Underwriting Manual system, including translation, editing, and revision of content;
- Conduct in-depth research on industry trends, including market demands, regulatory landscape, distribution channels, and key market players;
- Perform ad-hoc analyses, data extraction, and other tasks as assigned by your supervisor;
YOUR PROFILE
- Pursuing a degree in a field related to insurance, medicine, or actuarial science, or a related discipline, with a strong academic record;
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and structuring, with the ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets;
- Fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English, with a minimum CET-6 certificate or equivalent (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS);
- Team-oriented mindset and strong communication skills;
- Available to commit to a full-time schedule (minimum 4-5 days per week) for 5-6 months;
