Description: 

Munich Re is a global leader in reinsurance and risk solutions. We are looking for a Risk Manager / Senior Risk Manager to join MRBJ risk team. In this role, you will implement, maintain, monitor, and enhance risk management framework in compliance with requirements of Solvency and Information Security risks, support risk initiatives & tasks from MR Group and local regulators in China. This position reports to the Chief Risk Officer of MRBJ, and plays a key role in strengthening risk governance, enabling informed business decisions, and promoting a strong risk culture across the entity.

Your Role


Group Risk Management Framework

  • Develop, implement and maintain the branch risk management framework in line with Munich Re Group’s overarching standards.
  • Establish and monitor key risk measures, controls, risk appetites and KRIs.
  • Further develop and implement Non-Financial Risks such as risk and control self-assessments, business continuity management, information security management, third party risk management, among others in compliance with both Munich Re Group standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Strengthen integration between business planning, annual stress testing, capital and risk processes.
  • Maintain high-quality documentation of methodologies, procedures and processes.

 

Chinese Regulatory Requirements

  • Align local policies, guidelines and practices with regulatory frameworks including C-ROSS, SARMAR, IRR, and other regulatory rating schemes.
  • Lead information security risk management, implement and localize MR group IS strategies with compliance to local IS regulations.
  • Handle and coordinate any regulatory requests/reports or inspections both off-site and on-site as related to risk in MRBJ.

 

Business Partnering & Risk Deep-Dives

  • Provide timely, independent risk insights to support business decisions.
  • Conduct ad-hoc deep-dive risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Drive effective risk identification and promote acceptance of assessments by business stakeholders.

Risk Culture, Awareness & Training

  • Build strong working relationships to promote a culture of risk ownership, understanding and action.
  • Develop and deliver risk training and awareness initiatives.

Risk & Capital Reporting

  • Prepare and enhance regular risk and capital reports for ExCom and other stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure reporting consistency, clarity and timeliness as frameworks evolve.


Your Profile

  • Tertiary qualifications in actuarial science, business / commerce or a risk management–related field.
  • 5 to 15 years’ experience in Life / Non-Life insurance / Reinsurance industry or consulting in capital management, risk management or related functions in China.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience with Chinese regulatory framework and regime, C-ROSS, SARMRA, IRR, and other regulatory rating schemes and practice.
  • Prior experience liaising with National Financial Regulatory Administration (China) a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgement and the ability to propose practical solutions.
  • High commercial acumen with the ability to provide clear advice in complex situations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing capabilities.
  • Adaptability, collaboration skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
