Munich Re Markets (MRM) is a specialized division within Munich Re, dedicated to providing market risk transfer solutions to insurance companies globally. Distinguished from traditional reinsurance operations, MRM focuses on enabling insurers to manage financial market risk through its advanced hedging and administration platform. Our transaction portfolio includes reinsurance solutions for innovative savings and retirement products, capital management projects, and strategic risk transfer arrangements.
As part of our business needs in China, we are looking for an experienced professional to join the MRM team in Beijing. You will report to our Senior Consultant of MRM China, will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients in the Mainland China market. You should have a deep understanding of local regulatory and valuation requirements, a strong background in life insurance products, and a proven track record of client management. Excellent communication skills are also essential, allowing you to collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners.
Your Role
- Establish and maintain effective client network of all life insurance companies in Mainland China;
- Provide support to the central teams in new developments of China regulatory changes (IFRS, China GAAP, C-ROSS, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage the implementation and ongoing operational processes of transactions, ensuring effective risk transfer and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of MR’s internal risk management framework at high level so that when communicating with the clients, can brief explain MRM’s can do and cannot do;
- Foster close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide support for ad-hoc projects and tasks as required
- In the long term, you will also be expected to:
- Help drive origination activities for MRM business in the China market
- Develop relationships with insurers, banks, and other financial institutions to identify and develop new opportunities
- Work with internal teams to customize, negotiate and execute solutions tailored to client needs
- Work and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Your Profile
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the life insurance industry or asset management companies or security houses, with proven client management/sales/business development experience
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Experience working in a Consultancy/sell side would be advantageous
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, to navigate the complexities of a global organization, build strong relationships, and drive business outcomes.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English and Mandarin is mandatory, to collaborate with global and local stakeholders
- Familiarity with capital market instruments is desirable
