This position will have responsibility for achieving sales targets at the desired profitability level to ensure MARC remains a top-tier Individual Life {IL) reinsurer. This person will be given an existing client base.

 

Responsibilities include the development, assessment and negotiation of new IL business opportunities and the overall management of existing client relationships including our suite of digital solutions. This person will assist the Financial Solutions and Digital Solutions group by identifying potential non-traditional opportunities and participating in the discussion and negotiation of potential reinsurance and digital solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Business development:

 

  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with key decision makers in existing and potential client companies and help foster the

relationships that others at Munich Re have with these key decision makers.

  • This person will develop the marketing plan for their key clients and prospects. Through the execution of the marketing plan and by using

experience and good judgment, secure the desired growth results in the market, at the expected profitability.

  • Work with the Financial Solutions group to develop the contacts to further our efforts to develop the capabilities and reputation to

execute non-traditional reinsurance deals.

  • Work with the Digital Solutions group to develop the contacts to further our efforts to develop the capabilities and reputation of our alitheia platform and associated traditional and non-traditional reinsurance deals.
  • Assist our Living Benefits and Group business areas by referring opportunities and in servicing clients as required.
  • Monitor market developments with competitors, insurers, regulatory bodies, etc., which impact IL business. Maintain high visibility in the market by meet with insurers, participating at industry meeting sand by joining pertinent industry committees.

 

 

Customer relationship management:

 

  • Take all necessary steps to ensure that we maintain our top tier positive market perception and position. MARC should always be asked to quote on all interesting business opportunities.
  • Address the needs of clients in a timely manner and be seen as their business partner, not just a provider of services.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients to assist in retention of profitable treaties. Demonstrate to clients that we appreciate their business.
  • As the account manager, develop strong, meaningful and professional relationships with internal customers in key areas (pricing, treaty, underwriting, biometrics, etc.).

 

Treaty pricing and negotiation:

 

  • Assist the pricing process by working with our clients to be included on desired Requests for Proposals (RFP's) and by following up regarding any additional information needed to price effectively. Work with the pricing team to structure our proposal and communicate to the client.
  • Work with clients to negotiate reinsurance terms and conditions which meet our profit objectives.
  • Work with clients and MARC's treaty department to negotiate treaty wordings which provide the necessary protection for MARC.

 

Financial results:

 

  • Understand the dynamics which impact the profitability of the business and ensure that problems are discovered early.
  • Take appropriate actions to address problems with the financial results of accounts. Monitoring of results by account will be primarily handled by another unit.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • FSA/ASA preferred
  • CLU or ChFC preferred
  • Experience in individual life insurance and/or reinsurance required.
  • Experience in sales and/or marketing preferred, as well as public speaking and/or presenting to groups.
  • Deal closer - drives for results and gets buy-in on desired deal.
  • Strong ability to sell self and ideas/solutions to internal and external customers.
