HVAC Maintenance Intern

We are seeking a motivated HVAC Maintenance Intern to join our Facilities Operations team in a full-time, onsite temporary role through December 2026. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced maintenance professionals in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC systems and facility equipment.
The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an HVAC, Facilities Management, Building Systems, or related technical program and is eager to develop practical skills in a commercial office environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities on HVAC equipment, including air handling units (AHUs), condenser units, exhaust systems, and related mechanical equipment.
- Support corrective maintenance and troubleshooting efforts on HVAC and facility systems.
- Perform routine inspections and operational checks of building equipment.
- Monitor and respond to alerts from Building Automation Systems (BAS) and building monitoring systems.
- Record maintenance activities, equipment readings, and work order updates.
- Assist with filter changes, belt replacements, lubrication, and general equipment upkeep.
- Support facility maintenance projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all safety procedures, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians, contractors, and facility personnel as needed.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to expand technical knowledge and skills.
- Perform facility related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited HVAC, Facilities Management, Building Systems, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related technical program.
- Basic knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including:
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior coursework or hands-on experience with HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work in mechanical spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
