Purpose:

The Business Analyst acts as a strategic liaison between the product design team and IT/configuration teams, translating business needs into clear, actionable requirements that support accurate and timely product implementation. This role delivers consultative support to the business by analyzing how to most efficiently design and document requirements that are forward-thinking, sustainable, and aligned to enterprise standards. The analyst ensures quality and consistency through adherence to the Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC), controls, and testing processes, including system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT), while promoting standardization to drive long-term efficiencies.

 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Configuration, State Relations, IT, QA, and other stakeholders to gather and document detailed business, functional, and data requirements for product initiatives and production support.
  • Facilitate communication across cross-functional teams during the implementation cycle to ensure clarity and alignment on product changes.
  • Participate in requirement gathering, gap analysis, and validation activities to support system design and product enhancement.
  • Create and maintain required artifacts and documentation, ensuring version control and alignment with PDLC standards.
  • Support system testing and UAT by validating configuration against requirements and assisting with defect triage and resolution.
  • Monitor and track the status, issues, and dependencies of product changes to ensure on-time and accurate delivery.
  • Follow established processes for Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) and control frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and assist in operationalizing those enhancements.

 

Required Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with defect tracking tools and issue resolution processes
  • Understanding of risk management, audit practices, and workflow/process improvement
  • Working knowledge of Guidewire systems
  • Solid understanding of PDLC and SDLC methodologies

 

Skills / Knowledge / Experience: 

  • Provide consultative services for business and downstream support teams for product implementation requirements.
  • Analysis of product implementation and production support requirements.
  • Produce and maintain all requirements and associated artifacts.
  • SME on filings and many specific areas of focus
  • Mentors junior analysts
  • Suggesting and implementing process improvements
  • Special projects involvement.
  • In-depth system knowledge

 

Education, Certifications & Designations: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree Business, IT or similar field or equivalent work experience 

Preferred: 

  • MBA or similar advanced degree 
  • CPCU or other P&C insurance related studies 
  • Guidewire Cloud Certification
