Job Description:

  • Design & Development: Collaborate with the team to design, build, test, and maintain software applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness
  • Cloud Integration: Leverage cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance of applications
  • Collaboration: Work alongside Product Managers, Business Owners, and Solution Architects to understand business requirements and create effective technical solutions
  • Code Quality & Standards: Write clean, well-documented code and follow best practices, including version control, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD)
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Investigate and resolve application issues, providing timely support to internal teams and stakeholders
  • Security & Compliance: Stay informed about emerging security threats and ensure applications align with relevant guidelines and industry standards
  • Ongoing Improvement: Continuously explore new tools, frameworks, and best practices to improve development workflows and optimize application performance
  • Knowledge Sharing: Mentor and guide junior team members or support staff, while also learning from senior developers to grow your technical expertise
  • Agile Practices: Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., scrums, sprint planning) and collaborate within cross-functional teams for efficient product delivery
  • Iterative, Legacy Frameworks:  Participate in SDLC processes of various frameworks and collaborate within the cross-functional teams for product delivery

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or expected completion within the year)
  • Experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., Java, C#, or Python) through coursework, personal projects, or internships
  • Familiarity with modern application architectures (e.g., microservices, cloud-based, SOA) and an understanding of how they impact design and deployment
  • Basic knowledge of databases (relational SQL or NoSQL) and how to integrate them into applications
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) through coursework, project work, or certifications is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a willingness to collaborate and learn from others
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to break down complex issues and troubleshoot effectively
  • Passion for continuous learning, staying updated on emerging technologies, and exploring new approaches to software development

 

Preferred skills:

 

  • Familiarity with Guidewire Insurance Suite or digital insurance products
    • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Guidewire applications, including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, and ClaimCenter
    • Understanding how these applications fit into the broader insurance technology ecosystem
    • Willingness to obtain Guidewire Associate Developer certifications within six months of hiring and attain Guidewire Cloud Integration Ace Certification within two years of hiring
  • Cloud Platform Certifications
    • Having (or actively pursuing) credentials for providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP demonstrates cloud proficiency
    • Shows commitment to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies
  • Experience with Azure CI/CD and DevOps Tools
    • Exposure to pipelines, repositories, and tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions to automate and streamline development and deployment
    • Comfortable using Git or other version control systems to manage code effectively
  • Proficiency with ORM Frameworks
    • Experience using Hibernate, Entity Framework, or similar tools to simplify data access and management
    • Ability to structure databases and interact with them using object-oriented paradigms
  • High-Volume, Low-Latency REST API Development
    • Skills in building robust, efficient APIs that can handle large amounts of data quickly
    • Understanding of best practices for designing and implementing REST endpoints, including rate limiting and caching
  • Web API Frameworks & Modern Standards
    • Working knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger for documenting and testing APIs
    • Familiarity with security protocols like OAuth to protect and authorize data access
  •  Insurance Industry Awareness
    • Understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance concepts and business processes
    • Ability to translate technical requirements into solutions that address industry-specific needs
